SPN 8.15: Man's Best Friend with Benefits

On the plus side: Dean's fear of dogs is canon. He's apparently allergic to cats, which makes me DDDDD: in all the saddest/best ways. He has Kate the werewolf's name ready to hand, which makes me :DDDDD.

On the downside: I want to beat this episode to death with a shovel. I hated every single thing this episode did with gender, starting with watching a hooker get choked to death in the opening scene, right down to the whole plot revolving two male witches' ownership of the only significant female character in the episode. Let's not even go into how we always let the male witches go (swoony Irish dude, Don Stark, James) and kill all the nasty girl witches.

Edit: And also race. Dude. Black woman wears a collar and calls white man master? IT'S LIKE A PARODY. LAUGH OR YOU'LL SOB YOUR EYES OUT.

Sometime I should say something about 8.14, which I actually liked quite well. Another day, I guess.

Dammit. I heard they were doing so well in the second half of the season. You may have noticed I've been catching up--that's why. And now I don't so much want to anymore.

This episode will do no good very bad things to your blood pressure. OTOH, it's solely filler, so you should be able to skip without a problem.

*nodnod* Though I should note that the only episode I have genuinely skipped is the wedding episode--all the others are haven't-caught-up-yet.

And if all that weren't enough, the pacing and plot of the episode—hell, even the acting (with the exception of the familiar lady, who was also very pretty)—were all atrocious as well. I've been enjoying most of the episodes since hiatus, but this one was the biggest dud of the entire season, maybe several seasons. This one goes on my "Let's Just Pretend These Eps Never Happened, Shall We?" list.

Indeed. I mean, dude, I don't care how strong or weak the rest of the ep is, I do not need a sex scene between two people I will never see again! I do. not. care.

Omg, yes! That's exactly what went through my head when that started up. In fact, I rolled my eyes and said, "Really?" aloud. My poor longsuffering husband, lol.

You know I've watched every spn ep but watching peoples reactions to this one makes me think I should just skip it they were doing so well too
